Always Have a Plan

John Knotts was, at one point in his life, listless and without direction.

It wasn’t until he was in the Air Force that he met extraordinary people who influenced him to start making plans. And not just short-term plans, but long-term plans.

Now John, who’s a mentor, coach, consultant, and business owner, is hard at work helping small businesses grow through the use of creating plans. The one piece of advice that stood out to me was the need for a business plan. And not some one-sheet that’s been downloaded off of the web.

Every business needs a plan and they need to check with that plan on a regular basis. Since life happens, it’s necessary to adapt and adjust these plans, which we talk about during the episode as well.

And yes, John is also an author.

We met when he saw a clip I’d posted to LinkedIn. From there we’ve talked a lot about publishing and marketing strategies when it comes to books. I’ve also been fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of Overcoming Organizational Myopia; Breaking Through Siloed Organizations. It’s a great read and of course, full of actionable advice for any organization.

As a certified ghostwriter, I had a lot of fun talking about the book, and of course, about the need for plans in business.
